Encephalartos arenarius blue form

Encephalartos arenarius blue form

The True Blue is a blue leaf form of Encephalartos arenarius endemic to South Africa. It’s the only E. arenarius with wide lobed leaflets and a horridus glaucus blue. It’s been of much conjecture and mystery; I hope to share with you what I know about the True Blue. The True Blue aka Encephalartos arenarius blue form is a popular Cycad everyone wants in their garden. I enjoy them because it looks like a dwarf horridus on steriods with a blue glaucus color. If given the right conditions, it’s a fast grower and a stunning specimen to add to your collection.

To the untrained eye people mistake it for a horridus, but there’s a noticable differance between all horridus and arenarius; including the True Blue. Encephalartos arenarius leaflets have lobes of 4. Encephalartos horridus leaflets have lobes of 3. Look at the photos below
